An assessment is the starting point for understanding what is causing your baby’s feeding difficulties, discomfort, crying, or problems settling.

You do not need to decide what the problem is before booking. Feeding, reflux, sleep, wind, tongue tie and allergy-type symptoms often overlap. It isn’t always clear what’s causing the problem.

All assessments are comprehensive and include a full oral and tongue function assessment where clinically appropriate.. The difference is the format, not what is assessed.

All appointments include a detailed pre-appointment questionnaire so I can familiarise myself in advance and make the most of our time together.

Hybrid Assessments
Hybrid assessments can use a mix of remote support and clinic time.
They are particularly useful when feeding or settling is variable, when babies behave very differently at home than they do in clinic, or when difficulties show up overnight or during certain feeds.
This option also works well for families who can travel if needed but are not close enough for clinic appointments to be the starting point.
Because support can begin remotely, hybrid assessments often offer more flexibility around appointment availability. Starting remotely means I’m not relying on just one feed to understand what’s going on. Clinic time is then used where it adds clarity, for example to assess oral function or tongue tie readiness

If you’re local to West Yorkshire and have a newborn or young baby, Baby Clinic 1:1 assessments offer in-person support when feeding, settling or the early weeks do not feel right.
These appointments are not symptom-led or checklist-based. I take a full history and assess feeding in context, including how feeding began, how your baby uses their mouth and body, how they feed, and how they settle around feeds.
These appointments are best suited to the early weeks, when feeding difficulties are fairly consistent and parents want everything looked at in one in-person appointment. They can be particularly helpful when parents are exhausted and want support without needing to gather clips or information over time.

Remote Assessments
Out of area, abroad, or unable to attend clinic?
Most distance feeding support relies on a live video call. Our approach is different. Support is based on advance review of detailed history, targeted video clips and images, followed by a focused consultation. This means feeding, settling and oral function are assessed based on what’s actually happening across your baby’s day to day life, rather than a single moment on screen.
Breast, bottle and combination feeding are supported. If tongue tie is suspected, oral function and readiness are assessed.

Home visits offer in-person support in a familiar environment, which can be especially helpful in the early weeks or when feeding and settling feel overwhelming. I assess feeding, oral function and your baby’s overall presentation in context, without the pressure of clinic surroundings.
