Home visits are designed for families in Yorkshire who would benefit from in-person assessment in the comfort of their own home. These appointments allow feeding, settling and oral function to be observed in the environment where your baby is most typical, without the artificiality of a clinic setting.
In-home assessment can be particularly helpful in the early weeks, when feeding feels overwhelming, when patterns appear inconsistent, or when parents want hands-on guidance rather than trying to describe what’s happening.
Additional mileage charges may apply, please check prior to booking.
Step 1: Pre-visit assessment
After booking, you complete a detailed pre-appointment questionnaire covering pregnancy, birth, feeding history, symptoms and current concerns. This ensures the background is understood in advance, so time in your home is used effectively.
Step 2: In-home consultation
A standard home visit includes a 60-minute consultation in your home. During this time, feeding and settling are observed, oral function is assessed, and your concerns are explored in context.
Seeing your baby in their own environment allows patterns, compensations and responses to be observed without the pressure of a clinic appointment.
For families who need more time or deeper exploration, an Intensive Home Visit offers extended in-home assessment. Details are below.
Step 3: Tailored Plan
Following observation and discussion, you receive a tailored plan based on what has been assessed. This focuses on clear priorities and practical next steps specific to your baby’s patterns, rather than generic advice.

WHAT IS COVERED
Home visits support feeding and settling concerns across the whole picture, including:
• Breastfeeding, bottle feeding or combination feeding
• Frequent, long or effortful feeds
• Gulping, clicking, slipping off
• Reflux-type symptoms, wind or unsettled behaviour
• Sleep disruption linked to feeding or discomfort
• Slow or inconsistent weight gain
• Oral function concerns, including tongue tie readiness
If tongue tie is suspected, oral function is assessed in person and appropriate next steps are discussed.
WHY A HOME VISIT HELPS
Observing feeding and settling at home often reveals details that a clinic snapshot cannot. Babies tend to behave more typically in familiar surroundings, and parents are able to feed and settle in the way they normally would.
Home visits allow:
• real-world feeding behaviour to be seen
• practical handling and positioning guidance
• environmental factors to be considered
• assessment without artificial conditions
For some families, this context is invaluable.
